THE TEAM FROM ORDINARY PEOPLE MADE A DREAM COME TRUE FOR ISIQALO CHILDREN.
The children were each given a ‘bike’ shortly before Christmas. And they’ve already taken to the farm roads to make the most of their gifts.
Ordinary People is a not-for-profit organisation that helps seasonal farm workers and their families in the Ceres area. They help to provide schooling supplies for the children of these workers – as well as other gifts (such as the ‘bikes’).
Ordinary People was created, and is run by Marj Kaylor and Cecil Burgher. Both Marj and Cecil have played a vital support role to Isiqalo throughout the year. And our children (and the Isiqalo team) are incredibly grateful for their support and generosity. As a way to thank Marj and Cecil, the children performed songs – captured on our Isiqalo camera.
Here at Isiqalo Development Trust, we can see how Ordinary People operate according to their motto: Doing remarkable things. We can absolutely vouch for that. The NPO is changing the lives of children in Ceres. And we are so grateful for the opportunity to work with them.
Ordinary People has now launched its next project – which will also support the Isiqalo children. The organisation is collecting new and used stationery for learners in farming communities like ours. Boxes have been placed at relevant locations for generous donors to drop off items.
